Token in Cyrillic
23mm, brass
About this token:
- Stanislav writes: This token is in use in Saint-Petersburg (former Leningrad)
underground railway (subway or metro or metropolitain, so you can see large
letter "M"). This token have many varieties on details of obverse and reverse,
O/R turns and colour. But this token NEVER replaced by plastic tokens. There
is no any plastic tokens in Saint-Petersburg subway. If you need more information
on another subway tokens, I have catalogue "Metro tokens which had and have
circulations on the territory of ex-USSR".
- Your unidentified token with Cyrillic inscription is actually from Sanktpetersburg
(Leningrad), Russia. It is a transportation token, valid one fare (inscription
above the large M) in METROPOLITEN (=subway) (under M). The inscription on
the other side reads SANKTPETERBURG. It was in use since late 1991 or early
1992, later it was replaced with a plastic token.
